How do I stop the steering wheel from moving when I enter and exit the car?

I've tried fiddling around with the memory to no avail.

Thanks in advance.

I don't believe you can. The default action is to go up when the driver leaves. You could call a local dealer and ask them if this is something they can preset on the computer.

Yup, he will need to have the dealer disable the motors.

I've got to ask the question - why do you want to stop it moving if all it is doing is retracting out the way then returning next time you open the lock/door?

Is it a different issue that it's not returning to the position you set last time you used the vehicle?

I want it to stop moving automatically every time because inevitably the motors will burn out and then I won't be able to adjust the steering wheel at all.

Which is why BMW NA instructed dealer to disable the function and delete it as an option. They used a cheap motor system to power the wheel and it was costing too much for warranty repairs to replace the motors. My dealer did this 2 weeks after purchase in the first of many CPO repairs. When I asked for it to be restored he (SM) told me BMW did not "allow it".

Is there a specific connector or fuse for the steering column motors that can be disconnected?
