New Production delays?

Hello,

My X5, which I have ordered in November 2006 (seriously.. ) has had 3 production delays, mainly because of the added options.
(Sun Screens, Comfort Seats, USB and Auto Tailgate).
I was finally promised production in September, week 36 (info from March 2007). My production code is 111 and has been that for months.

Today I learned that there will be more delay and the my production week will move to week 40.
The story was that ALL productions have been pushed back by anything between 4 and 8 weeks because of capacity problems.

Now, the beauty of this forum is that we can share this info and learn whether that is true for all countries/regions.

Did you get such a message from BMW recently? Or is your production date still at its original?

I order my X5 in Dec 06, production was pushed back to April 07, then May07, finally it was manufacture in mid May 07 and I took delievery of it on June 23rd 07, now I am waiting for the fully adjustable front control arms from BMW Germany as the X5 drives to the left as I have Adaptive Drive with Active Steer. Seems they have a fix but it only applies the RHD X5's with the above aoption.

Yes, there has been numerous delays on the X5 due lack of components, 20"wheel, Comfort Seats etc, demand has outstriped supply?

Endolf, you are right, but production for 2008 normally starts from september, so in a way the autotailgate is a 2008 option.
I had it confirmed on my X5 but with production pushback untill September which now turns out to become October.

I'm still looking for other RECENT delay announcements to compare if I'm alone or if my country is alone, or if this is worldwide.
The delays Watrob is descibing, I've had them too.. :-) But it seemed that all had settled.

Here in Germany auto tailgate will not be available in the new pricelist for MY 2008.
I thought it would be the same everywhere in europe?!
Are you able to order it?

Mine was built in 3 weeks and took 4 weeks to ship to SA.
Ready for delivery in 2.5 weeks.

But did you experience extra delay's after the dealer first had mentioned the production/delivery date?
It looks like your production has already completed, so no longer an issue.
The message I got this week is that they are currently having production problems and need to push productions back by a few weeks.
I'm looking for very recent production delay announcements, like from the last couple of weeks.

Endolf: about the autotailgate, I ordered it originally in Nov 2006, when no one knew they were going to be a problem. The dealer was able to get it on the order list when he pushed back production dat to Sept (which now became Oct). So it may not be in the pricelist, the dealer in Netherlands was able to enter it in the order system with late delivery.

I think you will find that your production date is being pushed back all the time because you have orderred options that are not it production yet. If the auto tailgate is not yet available your production date will keep getting pushed back until it is.

That's what happen with mt RHD X5 with adaptive drive & active steer, it kept being pushed back unit it was available on RHD X5's, I orderred in Dec06 and the X5 was producted in mid May 07 when both options came available.
