About 13 months ago I had the dealership add what I thought was the most current Bluetooth module at that time to my 2004 4.8is X5. My X5 was one of those that originally came with a card in the owners manual that told me an ESN or something, for some type of handsfree car kit that didn't actually work. Then a few months later the real Bluetooth was offered in the X. My dealer installed bluetooth has worked fine with only an ocasional issue.
My question is about the SES Voice Recognition portion of the system. Why is it that I can only use the phone portion of this SES? I am able to use every prompt for the Phone system but can not get the SES to recognized or perform any Navigation or Voice Memo(Note) functions.
Do I need to upgrade yet again to obtain all the SES functions including the Nav/ Memo/ Phone?
Do I just need to turn on the Nav/Memo(Note) portion of the SES?
Am I simply lacking an additional module somewhere, and if so what is it?
Did the SES functions for the Nav and Voice Memo(Note) come later or as an add on?
What does SES stand for?
I'm looking at my invoice from the dealer and it gives me what looks like 2 part numbers: 1 84-10-9-122-529 and 84109132711.
I don't know if providing those part numbers can help someone answer my questions. I used the online parts catalog and it did find those part numbers but no detailed description was given.
