Ordering 2008

I'm in the process of lease termination of my current 2004 X5 and moving into a 2008 X5 . A few questions for anyone. One, I just received notice of a reservation for Performance Center delivery (I did it in 2004 - really worth it!). I understand that I will get a production number today. Question: Once I get that number I believe that I have read in these forums that I can call BMW and confirm delivery, etc...is this correct and what is the number. Two, is the premium sound package worth the $.

My question is, did they give you a price/deal, or are you buying it blind?

I'm going in blind but with a great seeing-eye dog. This will be my 4th BMW through the same dealer, via a consultant, with a definite $ number off of window. I'm not sure what that number is now but this consultant runs ALL of his BMW orders through this one dealer associate. That number of vehicles is considerable and he negotiates regularly.

Did you or your "consultant" get a printed confirmation of your order listing all of your requested options etc...? If yes, could you look to see if it shows navigation as standard? Are you getting a 3.0 or 4.8?

I'm getting a 3.0. I'm told that we will get the production # today. I assume that there will be some type of printout. Will post to this thread as soon as I know. I've seen that post and it doesnt sound plausible that it would be standard unless the base price increased accordingly.

sounds interesting!!! keep us in the loop on your order...

on the premium sound... is the stock system a good system or bad enough to warrant the upgrade???

it does come stock w/12 speakers, 2 subwoofers, and 205 watts!!

the specs don't sound like a cheap system...

my civic's sound system can almost rival the X5 system.
the X5 has more speakers and subs placed in better positions so it sounds a little better.
the civic has a 350W standard system + sub(Si) so the numbers are better but the x5 sounds better so don't be fooled by the W numbers.

had i given it more thought i'd have gotten the premium sound for sure.
