Hi all.
New to X5 world. Just joined actually.
I have an '03 X5 that i took to an independent repair shop after I had a recurring tapping sound while driving. But the car will not start anymore after parking the car. The repair man said the ignition was deactivated because the car could not recognized the shifter was in the park position. He replaced the gear position selector switch, but the car still won't start and now he says he cannot reconnect to the car check the system error codes at all. Anyone have any idea what's going on with the car.
This problem first occured about 3months ago after I took the car to dealer for routine service. That experience made me to finally lose faith in dealers. Then, I had taken the my car in for routine service but a day after I got it back, the car won't start after being parked for a few hours and was taken back to the dealers. I was told it was the battery and I bought a new battery. The day after I picked the car,it stalled and then stopped on the I-95 and had to be towed back to the dealer. This time I was told it was the alternator and the alternator was replaced. Again driving away from the dealer two days later, after about 4 miles, the car started jerking and stalling and was driven slowly back to the dealer. It stayed in the dealer for 4 more days before I was told the problem had been fixed (obviously not now) until now.
By the way the recurring tapping sound was because a piece of wire was stuck in one of the tires!.
