Loud CLUNK noise from passanger side dash area

Hello,

I've had this clunk noise for awhile, dealer tried to fix it but no luck.
it's coming from passanger side dash area when I hit the bump at low speed.
I went to dealershop and few independent shops to check my control arms and sway bar links, but everyone said they are fine.
noise coming from upper dash, not from the bottom, sounds like loosen bolt or nut.
does anyone have same or similar issue?
oh btw, I've lowered my X5 before with H&R and Eibach springs but I have stock Sports package springs now.

Thanks for any tips.

I once had a car that had the same noise on both sides. I ended up changing the shocks. I know it sounds strange.
Have you chaged the cv boot on that side? If yes, then maybe you did it too late and the axle was already damaged when you did it

If the axel was damaged you would know it. It would make a noise continously..not just over bumps...If the dealer says the sway bar links are ok..I'm not sure what else it could be...

not necessary. the axle noise could not be noticed on a plain road without bumps. on his car could be different, who knows

I think i heard of this clunk, I thought it was the microfilter fasteners, and when I adjusted them there was some lessening of clunk but it could still be faintly hear, let me know what you find out

Hi, same problem here, the dealer also said sway bars were fine.

How can you tell if they are bad? are they loose or broke?

Car is at the dealer right now.

Hello Raph,

did you ever lower your suspension or install new suspension?
I've lowered my suspension twice with two different springs,
during the installation, my strut mount got damaged (cracked).
new parts are on the way, and I hope this will fix the problem.

now that i remember the car was in a "little" accident a couple of years ago involving the right front wheel, but everything was fixed and no noise until now.

I'll see what the dealer finds out this week.
