Arrow What is this stuff on my oil fill cap?

I've noticed a reddish residue on the underside of my oil fill cap. What is this? Should I be concerned?

Here is the pic. It is a bit more red than the pic shows. The darker spot on the right is where I picked off some of the gunk.

Mine looks very similar - seems I have read this is common.

Hi, I had this in my X5 as well. I didn't take a pic, but its basically a reddish powder. even in the dipstick. Anyone?
