Its not necessary. BMW wisely engineered their automatics so that if you remove the shift lever completely, this is the same as depressing the shift lock button / lever all the time. OK screw that one then - expensive anyway. I don't get how a normal shift knob fits on there? Does it screw off? I remember that Audi lawsuit stuff - but I think they also put there gas pedal too close to the brake pedal too. So people were trying to stop and ended up even going faster and piling into something or someone
