water pump and cv boot DIY replacements

anyone got links for either a water pump & belt replacement, or cv boot replacements?

I need to do my wifes on her 2001 X5

before you start, make sure you have the special tool or at least make one. I have the details on my bentley, but check the article section first as tijanaw stated.

do a serch for " waterpump replacement" and "cv boot replacement".

ahh thanks, that cv boot DIY article is great

but I cant find any water pump articles, really I just need to know what all I need to remove, I've done E36 water pumps before, they are pretty much the same once you can see the belts

Then just go for it. After you remove intake scoop (4 clips) - it willl look just like your regular BMW I6

If your wife's X5 is the 3.0, may I suggest you replace the water pump with an aftermarket, such as Stewart, which has stainless steel vanes vs the BMW plastic vanes - just a thought
