Brake Job quote
I was hearing a grinding sound when I used my brakes even at slow speeds, so I took my 04 4.4i X5 (80000 miles) to the dealer to get that checked out. They told me that I would need to replace Front Brake Pads and Rotors ($663) and Front Sway bar links ($ 275). Are these reasonable? Also there was no indication that I needed to replace the brake pads and the dealer told me that my sensor could have been faulty and that's why the dash light for the brake did not go off. Has that happened to folks before and is it common? I requested a quote from a local Auto shop for the repair and they said it would be around $400. The repair shop is ok and I have had good experience with them with my other cars. Is it safe to get the job done from these guys or should I get it done from the BMW dealer? I called the two shops that came up in my area and they are quoting me a price of around $575 - $600.

$400 - $600 is about right.
