License plate light and radio controls

Hello everyone,

I am the proud owner of a 2004 BMW X5 3.0 with 62000 miles. I bought it new in September 2004 in Germany at military dealership. It has been nothing less than amazing. However, there are a couple of small problems I cannot solve:

1) The license plate light is out. I changed the bulbs but they do not light up. I do not know if there is a fuse assigned to the license plate light. The computer warning "CHECK LICPLATE LIGHT" is driving me crazy.

2) The radio controls on the left side of the steering wheel only work occasionally. The cruise control and everything on the right side work all the time.

These are minor problems but if anyone could offer assistance I would appreciate it.

I'm not too familiar with the license plate light (haven't had to change it yet), but I know for the rear signal lights when you change em out and you still get the warning light, its usually the contacts. might be the same thing for the license plate?

Try to papersand the connectors that hold the bulbs...
another possibility is a broken circuit.. check the wires
