Xenons don't self-adjust at startup

I have adaptive headlights on my X5 but they don't move (up-down-up) upon starting the car, although that's what happens on my Z4. Problem?

here's the thing, are you leaving them on auto mode or are you turning them on by twisting the switch to the right? If the 1st is true, then turn them on and then start the car and if they don't adjust then there is a problem

yeah they're on auto. The weird thing is that when I drive I can see them self-adjusting a bit when I accelerate/decelerate.. so I know they move.. just not when I start the car...
