How to manage large number of contacs in address book?

Ok, tried several searches in X5world about this topic to no success.

I have BB Pearl with a few thousand contacts. The address book seems to have loaded them all into the X5 2006 with Nav via BlueTooth. I find the user interface and screens to navigate the contact list very ackward .. it only allows to move in groups of 10 or so. There is no way for quick search or going directly to a given letter.

At the end I find myself going back to the BB to dial, etc.

Are there ways to better manage and navigate a large address book on the X5 nav screen?
