50 GBP for 6 liters?! Wow, that's a rip off. It is around $40 for 6 quarts here across the pond.

Your thread title says Oil Service, your quote above says Oil Change. Those are two different items at my dealer in Canada. Oil Service includes a bunch of fluid level checks and so on and costs twice what an Oil Change costs. They don't tend to promote the oil change as most customers don't know the difference. It would be worth asking if it is the same situation there in the UK.

Thats okay. US BMW Centres want to charge $150-200 as well for an oil service, which is just oil change and microfilter change.
Just buy 7 litres of motor oil, the BMW oil filter, and change it yourself. It's easy especially with the older M54 motor. |

An oil service is a little more than an oil change and a microfilter. This is BMW's list: Items Covered on Oil Change Service 1. Drain and refill your vehicle's crankcase with BMW approved oil. Install a new genuine BMW oil filter 2. Check all other Fluid levels, and top off as necessary. 3. Check and adjust tire pressure. 4. Fill windshield washer fluid. 5. Reset oil light 6. Check instrument panel and dashboard illumination. 7. Check all warning/indicator lights, check control. 8. Check turn signals, hazard warning flashers, brake lights, horns, headlight dimmer/flasher switch. 9. Check wiper and washer system(s); wiper blades, washer jet positions. 10. Check condition and function of safety belts. 11. Oil hood, trunk/tailgate, and door hinges. 12. Grease hood, trunk/tailgate and door latches. Check operation of all latches. 13. Check central locking/double lock. 14. Replace microfilter or Acc Cabin Filter. 15. Check heater/air conditioner blower, rear window defogger. 16. Check rear view mirrors 17. Visually examine the SRS airbag units for torn cover, obvious damage or attachment of decals, decorations, or accessories. Final Inspection
1. Road test with check of brakes, suspension, steering, clutch/manual transmission or automatic transmission

JCL, is that really what's under oil service in Canada? In the US Service and Warranty booklet, Oil Service (25tkm) just literally, oil change and microfilter. That stuff you listed goes under Inspection I, every 50tkm.
