Stupid question of the evening

Would I gain any performance in cutting out the surface area of the rear subwoofer and replace it with a speaker cover? In other words, would I "hear" the lower frequencies any better?

Thanks

Yeah you'll hear some difference....I did the same exact thing. The padding that's there now is way to thick. Here's something for you to try....take the cover off and listen for the difference. That will answer your question.......Phil

... and this is exactly what I did tonight. After being iritated by thumping sound from the sub., I stopped by the side of the road, took the cover off and continued drive while listening some of my favourite songs.

Cheers

First, the ONLY stupid question is the one that is NOT asked. And yours was not stupid since it seems others have asked the same question. Or are you calling them stupid also?

This website is all about asking questions. Yeah, you might get razzed on a truly unique one out of left field, but it will be in fun..., and some of us may even have an answer to it! So NEVER be afraid to ask.

Second, I was starting to think about the same thing, and I don't think I'M stupid.

Since there is no such thing as a stupid question...
and I'm assuming that the pic above is a custom install (my trunk panels have no subs, but I'm pretty sure that my sound system was an upgrade option or part of pkg)

Is the OP referring to a factory sub? where is it located? I would also like to gain some bass presence.

It's located behind the panel in the picture. You won't have it if you don't have DSP.

I have DSP, but there isn't a 8- or 10-inch sub as appears in the pic above, just 2 little 5-1/4 inch paper-coned speakers - did I get shafted? (I guess the answer is kinda obvious, yes, I did, the speakers are crap!)
