Both Turn signals failed-then started working again.

Had an unusual problem with the X5 today-neither the left or the right turn signals were working. Not even a flash on the dashboard, it was as if there was no command going in at all. I tried turning the car off and on to no avail.
So I tried something that fixed my 540i ignition switch a few years ago- I opened the driver's side vanity mirror (which activates the vanity light on the roof), and suddenly it started working again. I'm not sure if it was coincidence on the X5, but the reason it works on the 540 is because the vanity mirror is somehow related to the ignition switch grounding.

Has anyone else had turn signal failures not due to bad bulbs or contacts here?

Glad it worked. I haven't had the problem come back since I posted that last, knock on wood.

I am having a similar issue myself. As well, I noted that my high beams will not work in addition to my head lights are not functioning. I do however have tail lights and and daytime running lights. I'm going to try the battery reset tomorrow morning.
