Newbie Stereo issues

Hi All,

I'm just new to X5 ownership after purchasing a 2000 4.4 with an lpg kit. The car is great but I am having a few teething problems.

The main one is to do with the stereo nav unit. I have the 4x3 display type. The car came without a Cd autochanger so I purchased one from ebay. I fitted it and suddenly I was getting battery drain over night, with sometimes barely enough power to unlock the doors. Hence the reason why the previous owners removed it. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem in the past.

Another problem is that on a journey the stereo will be fine initially but after about 30 minutes the stereo starts turning itself off. When you turn the radio back on the sound returns but the display is blank. The radio will then stay on for a couple of minutes and then turn off again. Its really frustrating and i don't understand why it would do this.

I have had to replace the alternator since purchasing the car and have some doubts over the condition of the battery. Would this be be causing any issues?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
