Blackstone Oil Report @ 84K

Just wanted to post some engine oil data points - first analysis on the X.

2004 X5 3.0L @ 84,500 miles

Oil change intervals

14K - dealer BMW 5W30
29K - dealer BMW 5W30
41K - dealer BMW 5W30
47K - self Mobil 1 5W30
59K - dealer BMW 5W30 (last service under maint program)
72K - self Mobil 1 5W30
78K - self Mobil 1 5W30
84K - self Mobil 1 5W30

Blackstone summary:

At 84,300 miles, you've got a very nicely wearing M54 powering your X5. Universal averages are based on an oil run of about 6,200 miles. That's very close to what you ran, so wear should look similar to averages and it does for the most part. Iron was a little higher, but not high enough to call a problem at steel parts. We'll keep an eye on it next time. This sample of used 5W/30 was free of fuel, coolant, and moisture. Your air and oil filters are getting the job done with both silicon and insolubles reading normally.

Obviously I was very pleased with the results and plan to self service every 6K with M1 from now on.

Not braggin' - just wanted to contribute back some info to a dynamite user forum that has helped me save a TON of $$$ through great DIYs! Thank you to all the E53ers at XOUTPOST!

Chef Kevin

Thanks for posting.

Can you scan and attach the actual report?

Did Blackstone tell you what they are using for their universal averages? I am interested in how closely that description matches your vehicle.
