Wheel offset ranges for X3 E83, beyond the OEM 46mm

I started a thread at bimmerfest ( Advice on wheels for X3 E83. Will an offset of 35 mm be ok? - bimmerfest - BMW Forums ) for the wheel offset on a X3 E83, and thought of continuing it here as this forum section specializes on wheels/tires. Did anyone try a lower offset on the X3 than the recomended 46mm one? How low (on offset) did you go? How does the driving feel? I am considering installing 8Jx18 ET35, Rial Lugano in particular. Any thoughts on this wheel brand?
