AC Help Please!

Hi All,

I have been reading a lot of threads on here and my AC issue seems to be a bit different. I have a 2002 X5. My AC only kicks in when I am driving the truck. If I am idle then it turns off? I think the compressor is turning off. I hooked up a recharge kit to it and it read 130psi then the compressor kicked in and it shot down to approx 50psi. then it turned off and shot back up to 150psi.

Anyone know how to fix the issue of a compressor only turning on while driving or sitting idle but really revin up the engine?

Just spoke to my mechanic about it, maybe a worn AC belt? Slipping when under load but capable under idle.

Hi Milsy,

Thank you for the quick reply!

Actually my AC is not working when I am in idle. Only works when I am driving or if I raise the rpm's during idle.
