Need advise for tire 1 tire purchase

I have a tire puncture that tire shops would not fixed because the nail puncture is almost on the sidewall. So i'm forced to buy a new tire but i'm wondering what the handling effect would be for 1 new rear tire instead of a pair of new tires.
This set of Conti dws is only a year old and have only approximately 12k miles.

Get the same brand and model tire for the replacement. As long as the existing tires aren't worn more than 50% it should be fine. If they are worn too far, you can get DSC/ABS errors from different rolling diameters. In that case, you can get the new tire shaved down to match the tread depth of the existing tires at the tire shop.

thx for your advise, i decided to purchase 2 new tires of same conti dws just for peace of mind. I might try to sell the one good tire i now have.
