M62 Crank Securing Tool / Front Main Seal

Well,
After a few ugly spots in my driveway, I see my front main seal is leaking.
Looks like that crank bolt is on with 300 ft/lbs of German torque and the only way to remove it is with a crank securing tool and huge breaker bar.

Does anyone know a place to rent one or have one I can borrow?

This seems to be the tool:

Anyone have any tips on doing this job?
Can it all be accessed just by removing the fan housing and drive belts?
Is the bolt a standard right hand thread?

Thanks,
Tony

It may be easier to find or borrow an air impact wrench to remove the bolt. That's what I always use for that bolt and it works well.
On some cars, some parts may be in the way of the gun and will need to be moved though.

Yeah, I'd normally do that if the engine were out of the car.
Don't see how I'd get a gun in there without removing the radiator, which I'd like to avoid. Also, heard even most guns have a hard time with this nut.

Thanks.

Hi all I have 2002 X5 with 105 k miles.
I have the same issue my main seal is leaking.
Is it an easy job to fix?
Is it worth it ? is that engine oil or trany fluid?

Mine is the front main so it's engine oil.
I finally got around to cleaning the engine and putting UV dye in the oil to verify.
Look like it is the seal.
I found a shop with the tools, will do it for $300.
Seems worth the aggravation.

If I had to do it again, I would gladly pay the $300.00. No joke, that bolt is aptly named the "Jesus" bolt for a reason.
