Please help: iPod integration with adequate SQ

Car: late 2002 x5 with non-dsp business CD.
Stereo: Hertz Mille components, RE XXX woofer.
Problem: only adequate audio source at this point is a CD.

I've tried both the peripheral unit and the dice silverline duo...neither come even close to the SQ of the cd player. Not only is there static noise, but the clarity is just completely unacceptable, especially for a stereo with quality components.

The peripheral iPod integration was much better than the dice. The dice unit is great on function but to be honest the SQ is pitiful...I find it absolutely amazing that more people haven't complained about this AND on top of that there are venders that are pushing this product on the forum as one of the best solutions. WOW!

Is the eom iPod cable that connects to the back of the cd changer good on the SQ side? I am more than willing to give up features for an acceptable sound. Is there any other solution out there? Does anyone know why none of the truck units have even okay sound quality?

Any help is appreciated!

I just replaced my stock unit and am getting rid of a Blitz device that connects in place of your CD changer. It sounds great. PM me if you want to know more

Ive never heard of blitz, but I must say both of the other that I've had connected to the cd changer harness and had bad quality so I am a little skeptical....since your in seattle, do you have any issue with ,e meeting you and plugging it it to see if it sounds good?

mylifeasapc,

I just purchased my 2005 X5 3.0i and I'm very very new to the vehicle. I have noticed that I have a Blitzsafe AUX DMX V.1 in the back trunk compartment.

Would you be able to lend some advice as to how I can get this thing up and working. Currently when i select the modes for my radio, I only get CD and Radio.

What additional information will you need from me?

Thanks and much appreciated!

I have no advice as to a better solution, but the reason that you are NOT hearing reports of tapping into the CD Changer input sounding awful is because there aren't any, your situation is different if not just broken.

I read your post to advise trying the boost-treble EQ-setting of an i-device as it finally returns some of the air in the upper reaches (8k boost? unsure). You start with that and adjust the (gawd-awful) included treble and bass bands from there, resulting in acceptable playback from iPOD/PAD, which is to say Much better than the dash CD (even with the compressed thin-ness inherent in iTun-ified sound)

3k mi trip, from an ex-sound guy, it was no longer terrible (low volume, of course). My personal reference is audigy low-position-mic flat and klipsch RFs or (preferably) my old magneplanar Tympany.
