Unhappy water in trunk/DSP problem

sunroof drain flap was stuck closed = lots of water in trunk

i didn't notice anything until i turned my speakers off by pressing the left volume button in.

then when i went to turn the sound system back on i got nothing
so i poped the trunk to check fuses and found water in trunk over the fuses on R side, and over cd changer on L side

fuses for audio all good

the left button doesn't turn the system on anymore
gps works fine = no sound

when i press menu the DSP options don't come up and when i go to settings it has 4'1/2 written on the top right

how do i isolate my dsp amp as the problem??? so i can get around to finding a replacement and fixing this issue

did you check the battery compartment? there is a BM radio module, and some of the sound is passed through there ( i think the Nav, the TV sound are passed through that area). the "tub" where the battery sits is deep and can hold a lot of water - it also holds the PDC controller, the battery, the tow controller and TV module if you have one... did you get all the water out?

No water in middle only on sides, thers a big aluminum thing the size of the amp thats bolted on the same bracket the amp is, the aluminum looks stained with water

I vacumed all the water out of the right side which had a visible pool of water, Left side was only minor drips

right side has the sub, there is black plug with round pins, they could get corroded. there are no electronics in that well but a sh!tload of fuses and wires... even if the sub is shorted, it probably will not kill the amp... fuses... different story...
but, water on the left side - is bad news... a lot of wires, plugs and the modules... you might need to swap the modules to see if yours is fried or not... and still, running a risk of frying a new amp...

this diagnostic can be a major PITA - trace each wire to its proper destination. in the process making sure, it is not shorting to other wires and to ground... keep WDS handy... pain in the arse...
i wonder if anyone has a better opinion or solution - what can be done here?

First a couple quick confirmations: There is an orange LED near the left radio/volume knob to indicate when the radio is on. Does that LED ever turn on? I assume from your initial description that you can not get a radio view to come up no matter what you do, right?

If you never get the radio view and you can not get the orange LED to turn on, then most likely, your problem is a dead radio module. The radio module is the silver module next to the battery in the tire well.

If the radio view came up, but no sound, then your problem would likely be the DSP amp.

EQ and tone settings will not appear if the radio is inoperative. So, at the minimum, your radio is likely dead. Replace that and then see what you have.
