Two quick questions

Do I have to use BMW antifreeze when putting in a new overflow tank or can I just put in a 50/50 mix of top brand?

Where can I buy a socket for my right brake light in my 02 X. It is the bulb that is the bottom light and has the removeable gray socket. It appears to have gone bad as I can move it around and the light comes back on but will not stay on. (anywhere other than my BMW dealership would be great).

Thanks,

Shawn

Concur with Pnoy. I only use BMW fluid. Contains no phosphates etc. If it is good enough for BMW then I will use it. It is cheap at $20/gal. Prestone is what $4.00 cheaper??? It is a no brainer.

Buy the not mixed coolant for less than $15/gal, mix with distilled gallon of water for $3, you get 2gal gal of coolant for under $20. And it is BMW coolant, why even bother with auto store brands.

Around here, it seems like the auto store brand cost twice as much. Premix $20 a gallon, while BMW is $20 after mixing with distilled water. It is just more of a hassle to get BMW coolant, distilled water, and mixing it yourself.

Cost me $24 for a gallon of BMW antifreeze. Come out about the same price to auto-parts store brands, after mixing it with distilled water

Search here for Craig at BMW of bloomfield. Shipped, it will be less than what you paid, tell him you are from Xoutpost.

And as far as mixing it, I let the car do that.
After I finish whatever I have to do with the cooling system, I take my distilled water, put half into the car. Take my antifreeze, put half into the now half full distilled water gallon, and the other half of antifreeze into the car. So I get left with a gallon container of mixed fluid. I just pour that back into the empty BMW container, and store it, or use it as necessary.

No real hassle to be honest with you. It doesn't have to be super exact.
