just installed new door lock carrier but...

the driver's door handle does not go up all the way in order to open the door from the outside. It moves slightly but not full movement.

Does anyone know what I did wrong? There is the outer cable that seems to have two optional points to insert a metal piece and I have that piece in the upper slot.

I have replaced the handle as well as the carrier because the door wouldn't open from the outside. The door still only opens from the inside.

what carrier did you buy? Genuine BMW? There are reports of aftermarket product being not as precise as the OE carrier

If i recall correctly that ball was a bitch to clip on, are you sure its fully engaged? I dont have a door open to compare which slot the "claw" is on on mine when I replaced it

It's fully on the knob and there is slight movement but not enough to pull up on the outside handle. The handle is flush like it is supposed to be but will only come up about 3/16 of an inch.

I don't think it's the cable anymore because I can push the ball

up easily whether the claw is on or totally off the white slot. The handle must be stuck or jammed on something. I guess I'll take it apart again.

Fixed. The carrier was shifted about 1/16 of an inch toward

the front of the vehicle. Once I pulled out the keypiece, I shifted it toward the rear of the truck and the handle moved freely.

yeah those cables become stretched out and its hard to put it on the last ridge. That was my temporary fix at one point. to hook it up by the side of the last ridge as the cable was stretched. than when it happend again i bought two aftermarket ones.

fucking door carriers.

thats all I have to contribute. Let me know what you find out, I think I am having a similar problem where I have to pull too 'far' to get it to open.
