Using Factory HU

Hey all, Im going to be doing some upgrading in the X this next week and I plan on using the factory mid/cd player. Now I know how to pull the DSP amp connections and reinitalize the Mid, what I am curious about is the what others have done to get more then 2 sets of Pre-amp out of the Mid. I am looking at the Audio Control Matrix plus piece that would allow me to get a Front, Rear, and Sub RCA output to run a single amp or 4 channel, mono block. Also has anyone used the wiring in the back and solder RCA leads on or have you ran 2 sets of RCA's from the Front too the Back. I want to retain the factory HU as I dont want to spend the time to gut the system, etc like I did in my e39. Any help is appreciated

Also, is anyone selling a factory Sirius module? I wish to add the factory system and then a dice kit to get a bit more out of the factory unit.

Thanks
Dave

See this post for the pinouts of the radio. (The radio is the component with the CD. The MID is not part of the audio path.) http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...formation.html

If you disconnect the DSP amp, the radio will automatically revert to normal four-channel stereo output. The radio plug will not have the rear channel pins installed, but you can easily add them. The pins with a short wire pigtail are part number 61.13-000 7 449. Here's a post that illustrates me adding missing wires to one of my older cars.

Hey Brian, thanks for the reply. The pin out you posted is for factory nav but I don't have that, is the wiring the same at the back of the CD player? Your saying that there are pins on the radio but no wires in the harness that go back to the dsp amp for the rear channels? The part number for the pigtails are those for the round connectors as you shown in your alt wine fix post? Do you know what the part numbers are for me to "prep" the system for adding the factory Sirius tuner?

Thanks
Dave.

The pinouts on both types of radios are the same.
If you have DSP, then the car only has front channel stereo audio feeds from the radio to the amp.
The part number I posted are for the round pin with pigtails.
Here is a post that details a Sirius retrofit. It includes the harnesses: Updated Sirius Retrofit Parts List

Oops. Sorry about that. Yes, they have pins for those too. I do not know the part number, but you can find it on RealOEM in the same area as the round pin PN.

cool, and im not really sure that the sirius retrofit link you posted works for the e53 does it? from what I understand I need:

Sirius module
Extension Cable
Cd Changer adapter cable
Antenna
Retrofit kit
Do you have the PN's for the cables and antenna and retrofit kit?

I have looked under real oem for my x and it doesnt even show a retrofit kit for the sirius, or any parts for sirius at all, am I looking in the wrong place?

The electronics and general cabling for all the cars are the same. One major difference is that the E53 actually has official parts for Sirius, since it was available from the factory or as a DIO in later models. I do not know the part numbers, but give a dealer a call. They should be able to pull all of the parts necessary. Then you can make the call whether to go with an OE antenna and antenna cable or aftermarket.
