I Seriously need help. My story start from this spring as I blow up my old engine. I got reconditioned one and the engine swap was made by my local bmw dealer. Everything went fine, the new engine stsrted well and runs beatifully untill..Last six months in occasionally my throughs up fault codes 2b5d cranksaft sensor, plausibility , 29d2 misfire cyl6, 29cd misfire cyl 1, 29cc multiple misfire, ofcourse after these messages it starts to flash cel light. 3 weeks a go my wife was driving and the cel light started to flash.. Usually tje trouble goes away as you restart the engine. This time it didnt help and the car was towed back to bmw stealer.. This point I must tell that I have chanced:Maf, coils, spark blucks 2xtimes, all filters, temperatures sensors, cranksaft sensor 3x times, dme box has beeb reprogrammed 2x times. The stealer suspected the engine timing to be wrong.they c checked timing yesterday and everything was ok in timing. At this point Imust say I have chance the ccv's and vannos solenoids rubber O- rings as well. Well now my steler told me that it might be the dme box or wlywheel needed to chanced.. Im out of words, seriously I dont know what to do. So far I have spent over 16000 euros(19000$) to get my car running again. Please help, all advice is needed.

2b5d cranksaft sensor, plausibility ,
29d2 misfire cyl6,
29cd misfire cyl 1,
29cc multiple misfire,

Since you changed coils and plugs have you done a compression test on cylinder 6 and cylinder 1?

Have you checked the injectors?

if you are taking it to a bmw dealership, the techs are usually factory trained and the dealer will have the the bmw issued breakout box. why they are having as many issues as they are having is beyond me.

as for testing injectors without them hooked up to a breakout box to read their function in real time, you would simply have to know whether they are high impedance (11~16ohm) or low impedance (1~3ohm) and then you would unhook their terminal and use a ohm meter across both terminals. If a low impedance injector reads too high, its bad. if a high impedance injector reads too low or even higher, its bad. simple as that. All they are is solenoids that open/close to allow gas to flow.

I have no idea what those codes are? I'm used to U.S. obd2 codes that toss Pxxx codes such as P0135 for o2 sensor, etc. but, if you are having misfire issues as well as other sensor issues it makes me wonder if the dealer missed a ground wire or two when they tossed the new engine in so its not properly grounded causing circuit reading issues??

Hello again!
It has been pretty busy at here..
My dealer has checked the compression of the cylinders and all cylinders were in factory tolerances, there was little differences between some cyls but all were, like I said before ok. My suspected flywheel was ok as well, what I really thought was the problem.. But not. The car still gives the fault code; Cranksaftsensor plausibility. I have few friends working as tech in software house which makes tune up softwares to european cars. With help of them we decided to put jump wires from CSSensor to DME box to rule out possible bad wiring. Tomorrow will tell do I have to buy a new DME box or is wiring bad.. I have heard that some models even a newer E53 has DME probles, well, tomorrow tells more, will see...

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
Is it just me or are there a LOT of threads popping up with 4.8is major engine problems nowadays?

GMTA. I'm wondering how such similarities can exist without a common root cause.
