Go in the TONE menu of your radio (where you have the base, treble, etc...) and you should a AUX setting. Play with that first, that controls the AUX volume. Also, check the volume at the source, that might be really low.
Let us know.

tone doesnt do anything other than give me treble, bass, fader, balance for the aux input.
the issue is the overall main volume is considerably lower than the radio/cd/tape also is the aux a mono or stereo input?

After you install the AUX cable, there is another "feature" that appears when you click the TONE button.
Look again and you should see a "AUX" feature along with the bass, treble, etc... That only control the volume for the aux. Go look at the car.

Not sure if I have DSP. I don't have a Cd changer, and I think the DSP is connector is at the CD changer, so I probably don't have the DSP. Not sure about it.
I didn't get a chance to take a picture, but I have a feature right there along with the base, treble, fade, etc... that says AUX and that only controls the volume for the aux input. I installed the aux connector myself so there was no software update done either.

"alecu" is absolutely right. You should have an "AUX" button to control the input gain when you press the "Tone" or "Audio" button (see attached picture). There's probably something wrong with your installation if you don't see that "AUX" gain control.
BTW...I don't have DSP and I added the AUX input myself as well. Oh...your volume is low because you're using the headphone jack, which is meant to drive a 16 or 32-ohm load. Your AUX input have an input impedance of roughly 10k-ohm. If you want better volume out of the AUX input, try to use the LINEOUT of your iPOD/iPHONE (use the charging connector adapter instead of the headphone 3.5mm jack). |
