Smokin'
Took it on a test drive for a couple miles and put it back in the garage to clean and wax it. Next time I started it it smoked me out. Shut it down and figured out what I did. Took it apart to get to the CCV hose connection under the intake and after getting it together it still really smokes. Copiously. Also throws Peake reader codes 50 and 51 for secondary air both banks and 22 for vanos control #5-8. Do I just need to drive it more to clear the residual oil? It starts and runs flawlessly. Any ideas? |

Check if the hose from the bank #2 Vavle cover is connected into the lower fitting on the cyclone Oil Separator valve.
#4 on the diagram I connected those vice-versa and had 2 litres of oil burned in 10k kms,as well as a lot of oil in the intake manifold. Pre cat sensors fault codes, some smoke etc. RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 4.4i Crankcase-Ventilation/oil separator Quote:

Thanks diyanich for the quick response. Yes, those two oil hoses are correct, valve cover to top of separator and CCV at bottom of manifold to bottom of separator. ?????

How about the tiny hose that connects to the CCV which is under the VC and goes into the pipe connected to the upper oil pan?Was it the one you messed up?
That one is the key for equalizing the pressure and opening/closing thediagragm. When I removed the Intake Manifold right before Vanos and timing chain job,I broke that valve's nosle.Expansive mistake. But,what I want to tell is,that hose can get folded or pressed by something,it gets a restricted flow and as a result, oil separating system failure to do its job properly.

I used new hoses both at that bottom nipple off the CCV under the intake manifold and the vacuum to the back of intake manifold but I'll check 'em again.
