What size spare fits in the back....

My 2002 X5 3.0i has 18" Style 69 wheels on it but in the spare area it has a 17" wheel and tire. Can I buy another 18" Style 69 wheel with tire and fit it in there? One wheel thats on the car now has some curb damage but I think would be ok for a spare. Right now the spare is a 17" - Style 57 that I'll be selling if the 18" will fit in the back. Thanks for any info on this

I wrote a post on spare wheel sizes (normal and space saver) some time back, have a look for this. I know for SURE that a 19" wheel will not fit in the spare area, I believe this may be the case for an 18". Easiest is to put your car on stands, remove a wheel and see if it fits (the issue is wheel width, so that you can put the trunk cover in place).

OK guess I'll try that.
Didn't really want to remove a tire just to find out if it will fit in the back. Thanks
