Id like to try a few things yet for the reason of nothing at least in my car points to the seals... Plugs have no oil on them, and normally with bad seals youd smoke on startup along with while driving. Another issue is if you have your foot on pedal and idle it hot at lets say 1500 rpm you wont ever get any smoke... So the ideas id like to try but dont have any knowledge about them really.. Ive done some searching but empty handed... 1. Can you increase idle through software (i know terminatorX was talking about this in other thread). 2. Is it possible to just cap off all the ports? Im wondering what effects there would be if any, my old hoses are cut-up but i still run the catch cans so its like stock just with a can... But getting rid of it all together... And the plastic caps do still have those breather ports so it wouldnt be 100% sealed unless need be with the orange up/down rubbers. Any thoughts appreciated.

You can change the idle using DIS. It might be possible through inpa as well but I never done it.

There is a limit to adjusting base idle. BMW doent give you much adjustment. Definately not to 1500 rpm! It is still burning oil. You just dont notice it as much at that rpm. The reason your plugs are not fouling and there is no smoke on cold start is because the exhaust valve seals are usually the ones that leak. The hot exhaust gasses burn the oil leaving the combustion chamber. Typically the engine needs to be at normal operating temperature. Then let it idle for like 10 minutes. Then blip the throttle up to like 4k rpms a few times. When the valve seals get really bad it will look like a smoke machine at idle. You will see the carbon build up in the exhaust ports of the head and the exhaust manifolds. Do them sooner than later or you will be buying catalytic converters too.
What ports are you plugging? CCV? If so, dont think that will help your situation. My guess is if you eliminated ccv on your engine and are running catch cans, your smoking issue is not ccv. |

2nd. DIS allows you to adjust idle in 100rpm increment.
