Got an Indy quote for trans filter and fluid change. Thoughts?

05 4.4 with 126k. Indy shop said it's time to change the filter/fluid. He has the exact same x5 as me and knows about the 1-2 shift issues. He said at this mileage it should be changed and will make shifting a whole lot smoother. They quoted me at 146 for labor, 345 for the fluid, 60 for filter and gasket and something else totally just under 700.

Price sound good? Can I get the fluid and filter kit somewhere else and save? Thanks for the input.

Labor seems a bargain, is he using Genuine BMW Fluid and Filter?

Yes. He called the dealer. Just didn't know if I can get that same stuff on amazon or something and save some there.

I ordered the fluid, filter and gasket from ECS. Get the kit with all OE BMW parts. Service Kit - Level 2. $272

It will not affect shifting quality or harsh 2-1 unless he clears adaptations and re-learns the mechatronics. May want to consider the mechatronics seal and sealing sleeve while in there. Just a suggestion.

Mechatronics seal replacement at this time would be a good ideal.

How does one clear trans adaptations after a trans fluid change?

To be fair he didn't say it would take it away but that I would notice smoother shifting overall. I've never used this shop before so we will see

Price seems high. I've been quoted 450-500 from three different indys in my area using Redline.
