ticking sound at start-up..ideas? -video

i've noticed this ticking sound at start-up right after the rmp's start to drop a little...when that transition happens, i get a ticking sound just as the one in the video that lasts for about 2-3 seconds...and its gone after that...no problems with the car..everything runs smooth..any ideas on what can it be and if I should be concerned at all?thx

12 and 13 second mark ..I have no idea what it is that's why I seek advice..

How long has it done that? And how loud is it? From the video, it sounds like a bad rod knock, but not if it only lasts a few seconds and never comes back. Maybe obvious but, checked your oil recently to make sure it's not too low? I'm not familiar with the 4.8, but it could be anything from a damaged cylinder / piston to a heat shield or other bolt-on item rattling until it settles in place...

It's done it since I bought it just never paid attention to it..
Oil level is ok
Don't see how a cylinder would make that noise just for a few sec then go away...and it only does it from cold start when the rpm's are around 750-800 then drop to 500..it's the moment right when the rpm's drop when I get the sound...pretty weird if you ask me

Lifters? Mine does same on both my m5 and x5. Its normal

Same noise?about the same time?
Do they need to be adjusted or changed?dont even want to think on the cost..if it won't hurt anything then I'm fine with it.

Since it only occur during cold start, -where the computer is adjusting all kinds of stuff according to the feedback it gets from the various sensors, it would seem like it is overcompensating a bit on either ignition timing or some vanos adjustment. But quickly re-adjust as soon as it detects knocking.

I'm purely guessing here. But what else could cause 2½ knock and then nothing..

It is indeed a guessing game ...will leave it alone for now just wondering if anyone else with a N62 motor is getting the same noise besides me and optimusprim5

I have N62 4.4 engine and it doesn't make that noise. I checked again about 30 minutes ago and no odd noise like the sound from your video. Sorry, I have no idea what that could be.
