FYI - Came across X5 style 87‏ OEM chrome for $500

I'm really looking for X5 style 87 OEM but came across these chrome version for $500. I'm not interested in them as I don't like chrome but I'm curious if these are really OEM as seller claims. Saw them in craigslist Seattle. Here you go chrome lovers if you're interested....

They are both gone now

One set was 550, the other was 600. Both needed tires but otherwise looked good.

Sadly...out of all the pics the seller took...he never took one that was close enough to see if the BMW specs where around the wheel's hub to verify his claims that they are original BMW wheels.

Perhaps someone with a big high resolution 24"-32" monitor can tell if the BMW specs are around the hub...I can't tell on my laptop & ipad.

Or perhaps he knew that using oem (original equipment manufacture) confuses many people into thinking that they are oe (original equipment) thus purposely didn't take a close up of the hub where one could see the BMW part nbr and other wheel specs that would verify that they were original equipment Style 87 wheels that at some point where sent off to be chromed (because original Style 87 wheels never came from BMW with that option).

Always look around the hub (or underneath the hub cap if the wheel has a removable one)...or on the back of the spokes for the BMW wheel specs (BMW acronyms, wheel width/height, BMW 11 or 7 digit part nbr, wheel offset, etc):

(replicas never have the full 11 or last 7 digits of the BMW part nbr)

You can zoom in with the browser... And yes, they have the markings around the hub. Genuine BMW wheels.

Actual letters/numbers aren't clear but you can clearly see that there are markings around the hub. When you zoom in, you can clearly see the uneven reflection off of the raised letters/numbers from the rim. Every type 87 replicas I’ve seen don't have the markings around the rim.

I've tried zooming and can't see nothin...except for the one you found...and it still blurry and not recognizable. Plus the other 3 wheels still look smooth as a baby's behind.

If you're claiming oe...with that many pics...show the BMW markings like in the pic 4.8is posted...there's no doubt about the authenticity of that wheel. Especially since the wheels have been modified by the chroming process.

FYI, I purchased these wheels this afternoon, they had markings on the front but some more faded than the others. Also, instead of BMW it was BWM..no manufacturer like ronal or borbet on the back either..just random markings..and it said"design by germany" instead of OE wheel which says made in-germany, italy, poland, mexico etc

I only noticed the fact that they were replicas after I got home and put the flashlight on them.

The owner was actually a really nice guy, he took the wheels back and was very cool about it.He thought the same; they have markings on the front, they must be originals...

Ill post his phone number here in case anyone wants to buy them from him;he just wants them gone cuz they take space in his garage and sold his e53 for an e70

He was actually willing to let them go for 300$ which is a really low price if youre looking for replicas and if you consider the fact that those tires can still be used til the winter hits.I'm just looking for an OEM set, thats why I passed.
Anyway, hopefully someone will show some interest in them.
Here is the owner's phone number: 425-220-4232
