anyone know where to get a key fob schematic?

I cut open my key thinking my battery was dead.
Its not my battery, something else is the problem.
I get no voltage on the battery terminals while it is in circuit, meaning something is shorting it out. Same battery not in circuit give me normal 3V.

There are several test points on the circuit board but I don't know what I am looking for, is there a schematic available anywhere?

Yes, I have tried to re-program to car, thats not it

Don't waste your time, more than likely you'll screw it up. Send it to the guy in the link below and he'll repair it for you for about $50, he did one of mine and has done quite a few for members here on the site.

BMW General Module 5 (GMV, ZKE V)

Replaced the battery in mine with a wal-mart battery. Desoldered the pins and bam, problem fixed for a couple dollars.

You are getting voltage at the battery... is the voltage reaching the board? You can probe before it goes into any resistors to test for continuity of both +3v and -. I did that before replacing the battery to make sure it was indeed the batteries fault. It it passes that test... just send it to that guy for $50. Way easier than probing resistors and other components to see if they failed or if some SMD solder joint has split.

yes, I know about that that guy.
I actually asked that guy for some advise why my battery doesn't give voltage while in circuit - something is shorting out in the circuit. If I remove that same battery, the battery shows voltage. I want to trace out the circuit board and try to find the short.

I am stubborn and usually don't quit until I fix it or or ruin it.
The key still starts the car, I know about the transponder and keeping clear of it.
Found some information on line about the different resistors and components that people damaged (during cut open) and replaced so I am not the only stubborn idiot spending hours with a jewelers loop.....

Personally I would prefer a smaller key and just lock/unlock at the door handle, but as long as this bulky fob has to sit in my pocket it would be nice if it worked.

THANKS

Hey my friend, I expressed my opinion as others did Because it's a public forum
where different opinions are welcomed.
I just thought the thread was amusing
so don't take it personally.
