E53 in downtown Chicago caught my eye this morning

Says 4.6 or 4.8. California plates. It caught my eye! 👍

It being a 4.6/4.8 - I figured it may belong to an enthusiast. I wonder if they are on xoutpost?

No 4.x body kit.

Single tailpipes that point down. Non gloss window trim. Also it looks like they added 'X Drive' badges to the side. I think you've got a 3.0 there.

If a Honda does that I call it "rice" - if a German car does that is it fair to call it kraut?

Adding 20" rims to an X5 puts it into the "rice" category? Seriously?

Maybe not the rims - but putting-on badges that don't belong certainly qualifies!

The tailpipes tell the story; 3.0i. However I think if it is an 04-06 it would have factory X-Drive.

Rice? Kraut? Brat?

That thing looks totally stock to me.

While I wouldn't do it myself, I don't have a problem with someone putting an X-Drive badge on an X5. It's an AWD vehicle after all. It's not the same as slapping an //M badge on a 3.0i or 4.4i.

An E53 was never badged XDrive. Those X Drive badges were the clearest indication that the owner probably added the 4.x badges.
