thnaks, but i'm none the wiser after reading your post. can you please post up the link to the ebay vendor and the brisbane locksmith that got it all working.
i've called various specialist auto locksmiths in brisbane and they all have the same story...cant be done with their gear, go to BMW
BMW brisbane refuse to deal with a key that does not come from them

I take this forum seriously, as I know members read this to make conscious decision to spend money wisely and avoid being ripped off. So forgive me if it sounds offending. There's no such thing like "reproducing" signal, you can't do it with a Honda. Locksmiths only cut key, any of us can make the fob works with the car. However in order to start it requires programming. Programming process basically reads the code that stored in the car and write to the key. I do that kind of programming once in a while, and success rate depends on if the chip in the key you buy is really virgin. Many cases the blade is uncut but the chip has been mucked around with. I'm not promoting my business here (it's just a hobby), but if someone's keen, just pm.

I purchased my key off ebay ($45), had it cut by Gosford key cutting ( $25 ) after hearing all the crap that only a Viper Cutter was capable, and had it programmed in Newcastle by European Car Centre ( $90 )

Thanks Huntertec, its not rocket science is it. I have also found out that Mercedes tells its customers the same fear and doom stories. I feel the whole point of this forum is that we help each other out with what can really be done bassed on our hard won experience, not just listen to the stories from the BMW cash register or maybe ! ! some member who may work for them. :p::p:
