I found this in the back, but don't know what it's for. Any ideas? Still can't pair the phones.

benathon 02-02-2006 12:54 AM

Bluetooth Pairing is never displayed on my MID.

benathon 02-02-2006 01:32 AM

I tried this: http://www.bimmernav.com/OwnersManualBluetooth.pdf, didn't work. The Bluetooth pairing still wont show up.

Spent 3 hours trying to pair three seperate phones with no luck.
If anyone remembers when they installed there eject box, on the black square plug; was it kinda loose? Mine doesn't really SNAP into each other; I think this is the problem but I don't really know. Please help someone.

Would not having the CD Changer bracket effect anything? I doubt it, but thought I would throw it out there.

I read that UCrew; didn't get his to pair up immediately either but it's been over 3 hours.

there is no standard bluetooth module in the 2004 x5.

RobC 02-02-2006 03:45 AM

Hey, I have a 2004 3.0i toledo blue with grey interior too and I couldn't get mine to pair either. In the end I had to take it to the dealer. They needed to change some wiring harness as it wasn't right or something - works fine now. I was also told that another 2004 X5 had the same problem.... maybe yours is the same.

Do you have the phone cradle? If yes, when the phone is docked and key is in position 1, does the phone get power/charged?

I talked to him last night. He has an eject box and no snap-in adapter, since one is not available for his phone.

benathon 02-02-2006 10:36 AM

I don't have a snap in adapter.

I have a SE K750. I tried with two seperate SE K750, a SE S710, and a Motorola V3.

When I press the R/T button it says activate phone, but I can never get it to say Bluetooth Pairing.

I tried many different ways for 3 hours last night, but couldn't get it to go; if my phone didn't die; I would have still been out there...

I think my problem could be the eject box because the plug doesn't exactly SNAP in tightly, it's kinda loose. If those that have done this before, do you guys remember if your snap in adapter plug SNAPPED in tightly? I'm talking about the black one, not the Farka. It basically can wiggle out easily.

I was told that I didn't need my car recoded.

All it says on the MID or OBC is Activate Phone. The Voice Recongintion works too.

Anyone have some other pairing directions I could try?

Anyone have any other pairing instructions?

This is what the my 18 pin plug for the eject box looks like; it basically doesn't fit tightly; I don't know if it's supposed to have a lever or what not but the plug doesn't go in all the way. The first pic is as tight as it goes.

Am I not plugging this in correctly?

Did you flip the lever bar down before you plugged it in, and then raise it back up till it locked into place? If you did that, it should not be loose. That quite possibly may be your problem.

benathon 02-02-2006 02:40 PM

What lever are you talking about?

The one in picture #1. Here's the deal Ben. You need to depress the small locking tab next to that lever on the plug and then the lever will release. You then lower the lever parallel to the bottom of the plug before inserting it into the female plug. Once plugged in, raise the lever back up to it's perpindicular position until it locks into place.

Can you circle this locking tab? I'm not sure which one it is; I think this is my problem because the thing does not snap in at all. It wiggles. Are you talking about the one from the car or the eject box?

It's 1/4 of an inch in front of your index finger in pic #1

Yes, that's it. That lever has to be lowered prior to plugging it in.

benathon 02-02-2006 03:04 PM

Okay, I'll try that once I get out of class. I don't remember but was this lever on both sides?

Yes it is on both sides. I am sure that is your whole problem, because if you didn't lower that lever first, your pins are not even connected in the plug. Go home, plug it in correctly, then depress your r/t button and see if it goes into pairing mode.

YIPEE!!! That was the problem; I was wondering why the plug would wiggle in and out. I got the everything working; phone book transfer perfectly.

The only problem is that people say I sound real low and far away. I don't have any time to do research right now; but if anyone has suggestions on getting another mic or something please let me know.

Thanks for everyone that helped; especially Greg.

Two suggestions:

1. Make sure that the arrow on the mic is pointing towards the windshield
2. Get the newest mic, part #84316938762

Congratulations,

Greg

Refer to section "B" in this LINK. You will also need a torx 10 screwdriver. I can talk you through it on the phone if you like. I pulled mine out yesterday in like 2 minutes.
