What module is this?
 

My friend with an X5 gave this to me after he realized he did not need it for his X5. He says its a module with bluetooth built in. I've tried to hook it up to my 330 but my car does not recognize it. I'm hoping one of you guys recognize the part # and identify this module. If it is an assist with bluetooth i would like to offer this for sale to you guys so that I can get the correct module from martin.

It's an Assist/BT module, I think it'll only work for X5's produced from March 2004 onwards.

Oh yes, I am very familar with this TCU. It was fitted in my 05/2004 M3. As you can see from the label its certainly a BMW TCU made by Motorola, however it has BMW Assist functionality ONLY.

To cut a long story short, this TCU was fitted in MY 2004 cars BEFORE BMW rolled out Bluetooth officially with Assist ... Its a bit misleading because theres a Bluetooth passkey on the label, and owners were getting passkeys in their vehicle documentation as well. Even dealers were selling cars with the promise that the car had Bluetooth. Of course when we all received our vehicles we knew that wasn't the case! Rumor has it that BMW simply ran out of time to get Bluetooth and Assist functionality rolled out for MY 2004, so it was delayed until MY 2005.

Theres nothing that can be done to enable BT in these TCUs. They are junk (if you want BT functionality).

Thanks for the info. I'll just give it back to my friend and give him a hard time about it since i''ve already invested in a install kit. Looks like i'll be spending $400+ that i was not expecting to :tsk: .
