SE K750i doesn't work with newest SE firmware and Nav system

Hi

I have the newest firmware (R1BC002) on my Sony Ericsson K750i and the correct snap in adapter for thi phone. The X5 is built on januar 2006 and therefor quite new too.
Not all adresses from the phone where syncronized and the voice won't be work on the nav system (SA 633).
On the sony ericsson forums it's described to downgrade the firmware (f.e. to R1AA008). On the other hand it should be possible to upgrade relavant bmw firmware. The nav firmware itself is also up to date. A brother of me with the same nav system gave me a cdrom a few day before with the newest firmware (out of this navigation forum)
Is there any experience what to do or should i contact my bwm support in germany?

Thanks.

Axel

What's the part number for the snap in adapter?

benathon 04-26-2006 09:10 PM

Is this it?
84 21 9 116 566

benathon 04-26-2006 09:14 PM

Do you have this in a E53 or E90?
Got any pics?

Hello,
the correct part number is 84.21-9 116 566-01 from Austria. Revision 01 is built at 10/04/06.
Where can I find the E-number? I suppors it's a E90 because i order this car at november 2005 and the first date of official use is januar 6th in 2006. So it must the newest model (and therefore an E90).
Don't know what picture to make. The bluetoth connection between car and phone is established everytime i enter the car and the connection is closed everytime i leave the car. I can address the phone book (without some leaving entries) in the nav system. Now when i dial a number the radio plays no longer music, but when i try to speak over the car loudspeaker or car microphone i doesnt heare anything and i won't be heard. When i took the mobile directly i can talk normal (but without car "free speaking system" - the radio is still playing no music). When i then finish the call the music starts.
I'd talk to german bmw customer service. They told me to upgrade firmware or downgrade mobile. The next car firmware might be available with next mobiles or new car model (end this year). I don't want to wait and hope.
If here's noone having any ideas i try to downgrade my mobiles firmware.

There is no way to downgrade your firmware without sending the phone into SE. You can use the updater to update it on your computer. I just wanted a pic of where your phone goes into the snap in.

ADerber 04-27-2006 11:22 AM

Hi,
thanks for your quick reply.
Do you still need the picture?
Upgrade the "car firmware" is no alternative way? No chance? No hack?
Any other chance than downgrading SE?!

A picure would be great please.
If you have a local SE center; they can downgrade your firmware.

I have R1N035, right now and have no problems. R1AA008, R1NA005, and R1AA008 or options to downgrade too.

Sounds very familar Axel. I have the BT/Assist TCU from 9.2005 in my M3. I have exactly the same problem you describe with the latest Sony Ericsson W810i. Most address book enteries get transferred ... but some dont. Audio doesn't work through the BMW system. Its a real shame since this new handset is great !

Jeff330xi 04-29-2006 11:47 PM

I would like to see a photo of the snap in too. The 810i is supposed to be available from Cingular in the US in June or July and I'm thinking this is the phone I'm going to get. I'm wondering if the snap-in for the K750i will fit this phone. The antenna port looks liek it is in the same spot and the charging portion is the same.

benathon 04-30-2006 12:37 AM

It's the same; one of my friends have one. They are great; wait til the price comes down though; because it will.

That's what it looks like. I wish someone can post a pic with the phone in.

Jeff330xi 05-02-2006 03:14 AM

That looks like the snap in for the T610/T615/T637, which I have. I'd take a photo of it with the phone in it but the X is at the body shop. (Wife bumped someone.) The reason I wonder about the snap in the power connector. Looks like two separate conneectors with a divider in the middle. This is the newewr desktop stand for it, the photo is tough to see. http://www.sonyericsson.com/images/s...500_0_4000.jpg

Where as the 810 has no divider. Here's a flash for the 810. http://www.sonyericsson.com/images/s...500_0_4000.jpg

The charger for the K750/D750/W800/W810/Z520 are all the same. I'll take a picture of it later. My girlfriend and I have the K750/W800. My friend owns a cell phone store and he has them all.

Hello,
today i visit a se service point. they can't downgrade the firmware. But after this non-succesfull test all data was lost (GRR). So i spend my afternoon configuring my phone.
Some additional informations:
When i receive a call and the phone is outside the snap in adapter everything works fine. I can speek and heare using the car loudspeaking system. When i try to call someone and the phone is outside it doesn't work (curious). Probably it's because of the bluetooth options inside the K750i. Incoming phone calls can be directet (Bluetooth -> Freetalk devices) to handy or external devices (car). I sent incomming calls to the car radio system. Outgoing calls doesn't have this option.
Now I'm depressed

Yes, I know how you feel. I came to the same conclusion as you. I could receive calls fine through the BMW system ... but when I made a call, the sound only came through the phone, and not the BMW system. If you try and manually transfer the sound to the BMW system, when a call is in progress, the phone seems to lock up .....

I m use SE W800I and B/T kits from Matin, everything ok. Just waiting the snap.

Which Firmware is the W800i having?
In my opinion everything depends on the firmware version. And K750i and W800i seems to be on the same hardware. On several forums it's described how to "upgrade" K750i to W800i (see http://www.davinciteam.com/ and other related sites searching for K750i and firmware). The newest firmware seems not to work correctly.
What do you mean with your martin System. Is this compatible with the bmw snap in system or is this system a "free cabled" hardware?
Are you sure that your awaiting system will work. Did you have any experience.
I buy a expensive radio & nav system, a new handy and a correct snap in. This money might have been better investet in an other system.

Please be aware there are 2 BMW Bluetooth systems. The Bluetooth/Assist Combo unit, and the Bluetooth only system.

I had problems with the Bluetooth/Assist TCU working with the W810i

The System Martin sells is the Bluetooth only system. Early reports show that this system seems to work OK with the w810i and w800

It will not make any difference if the phone is in the cradle ("snap in system") or not ("free cabled") with respect to the Bluetooth compatibility. The cradle is only for handset power and antenna signal.

ADerber 05-05-2006 02:13 AM

How can I find out what kind of system i have?
I have the SA633 Radio & Navigation system with BMW Assist included. The BMW Assist is active and working for 2 months. My Bluetooth handy and snap In adapter are two weeks old.
Is the matin system working together with the bmw nav and is the cradle "compatible" or is this complete seperate. Do i have to buy a new radio?

apw2607 05-11-2006 02:34 PM

The fact you have BMW Assist means you have the Bluetooth/Assist Combo unit manufactured for BMW by Motorola. This is the unit I have, and also have the same problems with the W810i

You could remove the Combo unit, and replace it with the Bluetooth only unit (manufactured for BMW by Visteon - the one Martin sells at http://www.bimmernav.com) .. however you would loose BMW Assist functionality.

Jeff330xi 05-18-2006 02:57 AM

There are also multiple versions of each unit. I "upgraded" the combo unit in out 04/'04 because the bluetooth didn't work and we wanted to retain assist. The new model which was the '05 part worked, but at some point the Assist portion failed. BMW replaced it with a newer part (also a motorola part I believe) and I noticed signicant improvements with the newer module. The first was the time it took for the intial phone book transfer. With the old module it took a very long time i.e. over 1 hour, with the new module it was just a few (~10) minutes. With the older module, when the phone was paired with the car, you couldn't use the handset (it would take forever to respond to key strokes). With the new module it behaves as I would expect it to...
I really want to get the W810 and a snap in, but I don't want to buy it and have it not work with the car. When Cingular picks up the phone here in the next couple months, I'm going to see if I can test one out with the car before I buy it.

I also found problems with my k750i in the UK and receiving / making calls with it in and out of the cradle. In the end, I re-paired the phone with the car but loaded the phone into the cradle before pairing it....this seemed to resolve the call answering / dialling issue. I think it comes down to the profile changing with the phone is put in the cradle and the options within this profile when the phone is in the cradle.
I have now also discovered that not all contacts are uploaded to the car but my wife has a 2006 Z4 with BT and it works 100% in her car...so into the local dealer on Tuesday to look at this. Hope I can convince them to replace the ULF and see if it works.
