Eject Box for X5?

How many are there? I have 84 21 6 933 413 four wires (red, white, brown, and green), and it charges my phone but the phone will not work. I have a late February '05 X5. It has assist and Bluetooth. I believe I need one with more wires. What do you experts think? Thanks! Please provide the part number.

The eject box you have is for the pre-2004 models that required a pairing button. The eject box part number for the 2005 e53 without a pairing button is 84 21 0 393 570

(btw, does your part number end in 413 or 415?)

What about this number 84 21 6 946 63? My dealer's part deptartment said number 84 21 0 393 570 is a cradle and not a eject box. Who is correct?

My part number ends in 415.

My dealer's parts guy said 84 21 0 393 570 is a cradle and not a eject box.

I was given this part number(84 216 946 063) and I checked with my local BMW dealer and this is an eject box. I'm totally confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are some part numbers referenced here - http://www.xoutpost.com/showpost.php?p=5702&postcount=1

That post is for a 2004 X5. The cradle for those models includes a pairing button for the Bluetooth. Flexstar's X5 is a 2005, so it needs the cradle w/o the pairing button. I think Flexstar has idetified the correct part numbers, but I am waiting for him to receive the parts and confirm that everything works before I order the parts for my '05.

There has been way too much confusion about which parts are required for which vehicles. BMW, on their Bluetooth microsite, really needs to publish a chart or table showing the proper configuration and part numbers for each vehicle and phone model. BMW has not made this very easy for us!

OK, Picked up the new 2006 X5 3.0 on Friday, and had the dealer install the

Eject Box (p/n 84-21-6-946-055 / 84-21-6-946-063)
v710 Snapin Adapter (p/n 84-21-0-393-570)
plus the extra antenna ...

The dealer picked the parts, not me ... I told him I wanted to put my E815 in the center console, use the car's antenna, and charge the phone while talking through the bluetooth system.

I finally got around to trying it out today, and the phone pairs perfectly, address book transfers, etc.

But, like several other posts in this forum, the phone is not charging (I think it's using the antenna ... but I haven't verified that 100% yet).

I searched the forum, and saw a bunch of 2005 installs ... but did not see a final entry from someone who has a v710 or E815 working and charging through an eject box and snapin adapter ... although there is lots of circumstantial evidence that some folks have it working as designed.

Can someone who has it working please post their part numbers? I want to call the dealer with all the info needed for him to either diagnose or repair the problem. Particularly if he has the wrong eject box installed (which I suspect) ...

Other than that, I am having a blast driving the car!

Thanks for the help from the forum members, I visit almost every day, and you guys know 1000x more than anyone I've met at the dealer!

I posted a "final entry" for my BT install with a MOTO E815 here: LINK Mine did not charge at first try either. There is only one eject box. I'm sure yours is correct. I had to change some pins around in the plug that comes from the eject box to get it to charge. These are the changes that I made:

Relocate Pin 5 to 10

Relocate Pin 2 to 17
**

** Keep in mind that I bought the ULF module and wiring harness from Advanced Autovations, and this is the process that they recommended, and it works perfectly for my setup. Try it, maybe it will work for you as well.

Part # 84-21-0-393-570 is a V710 Snap-in adapter that snaps into the "eject box". Your V710/E815 clicks into this adapter, and there are connections that charge the battery and connect the car's antenna thus disabling the phones antenna.

SuperGreg (any relation to my hero, SuperDave Osborne?),

I'm not sure I want to screw around with the pins in the eject box ... given that the car has only been in my possession for 3 days, that is ...

I found some other posts in various forums which talk about the difference between eject boxes with a pairing button (for pre-2004) and without pairing buttons (post-2004). I wonder if that may be the problem I have ... apparently the eject box with the pairing button will not charge the phone, while the one with the pairing button will. That might also explain your recommendation to move pins ?

The part number referenced for a box without the pairing button is 84-21-6-933-415. I sent a note off to the dealer's service department (copying the salesman just to make sure he doesn't feel left out :D ) asking about it. Frankly, I'm not in the mood to drive 25 miles and hang around for a few hours just to be told that 1) the phone isn't charging (duh!) and 2) they have to order the other part.

If someone has the time to look at a working setup in a 2005/2006 and verify my suspicion, that would be great. Otherwise, I'll post results as I get them.

I can't blame you. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

I talked at length with the parts guy at the dealer today. He is 100% certain that the eject box I have is the correct one. He thinks there is a wiring or connection problem.

I suspect that either the eject box or the snap-in are dead (or otherwise faulty). I took a shot at moving the pins ... no change in the phone's charging status was observed. So I moved them back.

I guess it's off to the dealer for a lengthy conversation along the lines of "Gee, it SHOULD be working ... maybe your phone is faulty ... oh, and we need to order the parts to see if swapping them will solve the problem ... are you sure your phone works?"

Thanks for all your help ... I will post the resolution when and if they get it working.

Try paging TripleX5. Per post number 14 in this thread, he figured out what the problem was - http://www.xoutpost.com/showthread.php?p=41880#post41880

I received some very helpful info from TripleX5 (as always, he's right on top of things!). Unfortunately, his suggestions also failed to get the phone charging.

So, I dropped it off at the dealer this morning, and within an hour received a call that they would need to replace the eject box. It wasn't passing power through it. Of course, the part will have to be ordered.

The good news is that they are going to let me keep their loaner overnight, and save me from a second visit. Think I'll go see if the X3 loaner I'm driving can handle a 60% grade with HDC turned off. ;) Only kidding.

Thanks to all for your assistance.

There are two eject boxes

I'm sitting here in my living room looking at two different eject boxes:
1) 84-21-6-933-415 (has date 8/04/03 on it)
2) 84-21-6-946-063 (has date 1/12/04 on it)

Both supplied by Crevier. The one ending -415 was NOT compatible with 8/04 build 2004, although I did successfully install the -056 combo BT/Assist TCU.

I'm hoping the -063 works...they are similar but clearly diffferent parts. Also, the FAKRA connectors seem to be identical on both.

p.s. they BOTH have pairing buttons....

Kept the X3 overnight; got call that supposedly fixed X5 was ready at noon Friday. Went to pick it up, did immediate test of new eject box.

Test immediately failed. Waited another hour while they determined that only 8 volts (instead of 12) were going thru eject box to plug in adapter.

Another eject box now on order; return trip to dealer next week.

The story will probably continue ...

Dropped the car again yesterday; dealer replaced the eject box again. This time the problem is solved. Third time is the charm!
