Palm 700p Bluetooth problem.

As some of you know I bought a Palm 700P. Works great web browsing E-mail the whole shabang. One interesting problem recently came up that has me stumped. Bluetooth paired fine, speed-dial numbers downloaded, and dialing out and in worked great including a 2 way conversation. Now all of a sudden i can dial a number from the X5 but i cant hear a thing. No dialing tone and when the person on the other end picks up they cannot hear me and I cannot hear them. You can see the X5 going thru the process of dialing the number. If I pick up the palm and listen in while the X5 is processing the call i can hear the call being placed and the person answering. On the other hand if someone calls me while i'm in the X5 I can hear the ringer on the Palm, and a hight pitched ring on the X5 at the same time and a 2 way conversation when I answer with the X5 controls. Yes the Volumn is turned up. Strange goings on. Got any answers?

Maybe your Bluetooth connection has gotten corrupted. You need to re-pair the Treo 700p with your BMW. First, on your Treo 700p, go to Bluetooth and go to Trusted Device and delete BMW ULF off your Treo 700p. Then repair and see what happens. I hate to tell you this, but if you look at Treocentral.com's forum re: Treo 700p's bluetooth support....currently, it appears to be worse than the Treo 650. Plenty of headsets do not work with the 700p and also hands-free car kit. However, I am sure Palm will release updated firmware to address this.

When I first owned the VZW Treo 650, Palm released I believe 3 different updates for the VZW Treo 650 with the latest being firmware 1.04 which was the most stable and had better bluetooth connection with BMWs. Unfortunately, I think you returned your Treo 650 before they released firmware 1.04 for the Treo 650.

Hopefully, Palm will release an updated firmware for the Treo 700p that will fix the bluetooth stuff and also "slower than Treo 650" response time with the 700p when switching applications. However, the Treo 700p EV-DO and plenty of memory and stable OS (I haven't had any real crashes) has been great! I still have my Treo 650 and it does switch programs faster than the Treo 700p even though the Treo 650 only has 1.5MB free vs. the Treo 700p having 42MB free.

Hey thanks for the response. I found the bluetooth article on the palm site that said the same thing. I decided to pair the CEO's razr v3 just to see if it was the X. The V3 paired just fine and dialed just fine and connected just fine.

Here's the interesting part. When I first paired the Palm it worked just fine for a number of days but then a few days ago when all this started i noticed at the top of the Palm screen where the Bluetooth icon usually goes there was a pair of headphones in it's place. I surmise that the palm see's the BMW as a headset rather than an auto. So after reading about the curruption issue i did delete the X5 as a trusted device. After i tried to reinstall it as a trusted device the Palm refused to pair as an auto device but instead paired as a headset. So i'm gonna go out side and see if after using the V3 to erase the palm's addresses maybe it will see the X as an auto device. Stand by, the saga continues.

Hmmm....sounds like the same problem I am having with my Treo 700p with my Visteon Bluetooth Modules in both the '04 M3 and '01 X5. The Treo 700p does pair with the BMW, but BT logo turns into a headset symbol. I was able to make one phone call via the M3 Bluetooth system which was my voicemail, but then after that I had the same problem. Funny thing, my wife has the pink V3c and it pairs pefectly with both cars (address book downloaded as well).

I think Palm needs to come up to the plate and fix the buggy Bluetooth software on the Treo 700p. :swear: BTW, it doesn't matter if you got the Sprint or VZW Treo 700p....the BT in both version is buggy.:tsk:

Nope it's not the BMW The V3 works just fine. Why is this happining? I worked so well. And yes the BT logo turns into a headset symbol which must mean that whatever software is in the palm is doing the do to our bluetooth connection. Grrrrrr. Anybody know palm's number??

Maybe we need to do a hard reset.

I don't know much to add to this, but I will tell you that the "BT headset protocol" is what is usually used.

Could be but that didn't come up until a few days ago and the headset protocal mutes BMW's audio

Ironic that after a few months of owning the Treo 650 and releasing firmware 1.04 in 10/05, the Treo 650 paired with all BMWs with no problems. Now I am back at square one with the Treo 700p, but the EV-DO is addictive. Also, it has been solid and not crashing!

Equally Ironic is that my Treo 700P actually worked when I first got it now it goes through all the steps but I can hear it. And yes your right the EV-DO is addictive. I did post on Brighthand last evening all the comments i have made about this issue. Maybe i have missed something. For everything to work as it does and not be able to hear it is strange and I can't help but think i did something dumb and the answer is simple.
