Just got the new Blackberry 8800

So far, I'm very happy with it. Its just like a Pearl, but slightly wider to accomodate a full QWERTY keyboard. It also has built-in GPS for maps and directions, unlike the Pearl.

Here's the only problem: I can't get the phone book to transfer into my 2005 X5. Handsfree calling works fine, but no phonebook transfer. My X5 is a May 2005 build date and the bluetooth ULF that came with it is a Motorola with a build date of 4-15-2005.

When I did the initial pairing, the "transfer phonebook" command under the phone's bluetooth menu was set to "NO". Later in the day, I changed it to "YES" but the phonebook isn't transferring. In hindsight, I probably should have set it to "YES" before I did the initial pairing, but it's too late now.

Anyone have any suggestions?

oh nice! Those look realy cool. Though I am surprised there is no camera option. At least you can pull the memory card out without taking off the battery.

Sorry cant help you for BT. Surely there is some reset button on the car/phone to let you pair them again?

You bet.

It's never too late to get things up and running. You may have to do a little work but why not start here. http://www.rimarkable.com/archives/462 When you find out how it works post the results. ;)

I think that devices with big phone books will not transfer.

My Treo 700W actually transfers my favorites and they show up on the radio/display but they don't work.

Devices with big phone books will transfer if you follow instructions. My 700P has space for more than 1000 contacts and i suppose if i configure my phone properly and the X has the space they would all load. OBTW they do work.

So do you think I can make my Treo work?

I have about 2000 contacts and the format was from a old version of Act.

Could be. Ask about it here. http://www.brighthand.com/

I plan to dump my 700 once the two years are up. It just does not have have enough memory and freezes about once a day.

Perhaps those folks can walk you thru a fix.

Okay -- it is now working. I guess it just took a REALLY long time to load.

Can't say I like the format of how the names display on my MID. They are appearing as "Last Name, First Name - Home" or "Last Name, First Name - Work". All of that won't fit on one line.

Would be nice if there was a way just to transfer the person's first initial and last name, along with a W for work, M for mobile, H for home, etc. But I suppose that's not possible (unless, perhaps you know how to program in Blackberry OS!).
