Would like to retrofit Bluetooth on my e53

I curently have a 2005 e53 X5 vin LV19655.

based on the information that I have it has the "640 CAR TELEPHONE PREPARATION" kit witch I assume every X5 have.

How hard is it to retrofit the Bluetooth kit ? I was considering ordering the kit from EAS but if it is too hard or if I need all bunch of wiring, I might just buy an external Bluetooth interface like the Clarion one.

Any help / feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The install is very simple, full instructions are included. Our Bluetooth kits support the following functions:

- Voice Activated Dialing
- Phonebook Synchronization
- SMS Text Message Display (depending on carrier)
- Name Recognition
- Voice Activated Navigation (vehicles equipped with NAV)
- Digital Notepad

And most importantly - does not void factory warranty, since we are using only Genuine BMW parts.

Good timing as kits are now shipping with 13th Generation ULFs.

OEM BT Kit is very simple to install. Took me 30 minutes if that. One of the best upgrades I've done to the X.

Was your X5 equipped with BMW Assit ? I am starting from scratch no BMW assist, just pre-wired for phone.

I wish I could have the instruction to see how hard it will be. The dealer quoted me 10 hours for installation!!!! so 30 minutes seems odd for me

10 hrs???!!! You're joking, right? Yes mine had the BMW assist which meant I had to disconnect it first before putting in the ULF. All NA X5's are pre-wired. Only thing you might have to do is install the microphone (if you don't have one). That would add another 20 min. Check this link out for instructions.
