05 X5 Razr

I just bought a Razr from the compatible phones list for my 05. I pushed the R/T button and the phone recognizes the device as BMW15436, but the car doesn't connect. The phone feature on the display also asks Phone Connected?

Did I not pair it properly?

Do I need additional equipment? I thought it was prewired.

You need to enter the passkey from your BMW's bluetooth unit or TCU unit. I believe it's a 4 digit number. If you can't find the paper that should have come with the manuals that has this code on it, it will be present on a sticker on the TCU unit itselt. It will say either "Passkey" or "PK"

I have the number and entered it. The digits entered as **** and I thought that was for security reasons.

Yes that's correct. It should now work, does it?

No. the razr recognizes the device and Id's it as BMW15436 but then the razr states that it is unable to connect. The phone feature on the onboard computer continues to state "phone connected?" ???

Have you tried deleting that known connection from your X and restarting the connection process?

I had significant issues with bluetooth when I picked up my 2008 X5. I was connecting 3 phones though. The first connection worked for about 5 minutes. Spent the next 1.5 hours trying to connect another, including my CA's RAZR, trying to reconnect the original, etc. without any success.

After about the 4th restart from scratch, the first connected, then the second and then the third...

Yes, I was going to suggest doing the same thing. Disconnect all bluetooth devices from it and then try again. Also make sure you have the right passkey code. If your TCU was ever replaced then you'll have a new passkey.

Hmmm sounds like you have a bad phone.
Don't throw it away, send it to me I don't mind using a broken phone... :nanana:
