Thanks for that tip. It doesn't seem to make a difference, though. The pairing has always been easy and successful even with the old firmware. Both the phone and the car show the other device with the correct MAC addresses and such. THe car just doesn't recognize the phone until I initiate a call from the treo. Immediately after completing the call, it goes back to "activate phone".

How do you tell what rev your BT module in the car is?

So, the definitive answer is: the Treo650 and the X5 will sync via Bluetooth, but only the Sprint version of the Treo software.

Has no one been able to get VZW/Treo650 and their X5 to work?

We need BMW to do something like this!

Reading all of this prompts the question if I decide to buy one of these phones which Treo 650 pairs best and easiest with the X5? Seeing as how some providers like to disable functions to make you pay; which Treo has better options CDMA or GSM. Yes I know the answer can be subjective and service can depend on where you live but there has to be a deal breaker in there somewhere.

:iagree:

I have a VZW Treo650 and it pairs fine with my 2004 M3 with BMW Bluetooth with Assist -114.

ok, so I looked, and I don't see where I can determine my ULF module number. Left rear compartment, right? I see a black box with wire harnesses attached, and a silver box also. Both are bolted tight to the walls of the compartment. No numbers visible.

If, by chance, I have a 993 module instead of a 114 (which works), what would it cost me to go from 993 to 114?

I know the existing module works, because my wife's V710 pairs beautifully.

I went to my BMW dealer at lunch, and he told me that X5's from the factory (with Assist standard) don't come with a ULF, but rather a TCU. He also said he had paired a Treo with a 6-series last week. He tried to pair mine for about 20 minutes, and we kept getting the Reboot every time the "PHONEBOOK LOADING" message came up.

Here is the info off my Bluetooth card:

You have the -993 BT/Assist TCU module and that is why your Treo won't pair.....need to upgrade to the -114 or the later generation....Good luck....Maybe BMW can do some goodwill and do it under warranty....

how to tell what module you have????

I have no problem paring my wife's v710 to our new x5, but when I try to do it with my treo, the phone goes into a reboot cycle while trying to download the phone book. I've tried this with no favorites defined and it still does the same. Can you please tell me how I can determine what module I have and whether that's the problem?
