High cost for X5 ULF
 

Does anyone know why the ULF module commands such a high price for the X5? Auctions on eBay consistently start north of $300, though many don't end up selling.

With aftermarket car kits going for under $100, why would anyone consider spending 4 or 5 times that on the BMW integration?

I bought mine from Bimmernav, at their retail price. For me, it was worth it. I wanted full integration with the onboard computer, dash and steering wheel controls, voice commands, built-in speakers and microphone, and such. An aftermarket bluetooth gadget might give the ability to have a handsfree conversation, but there are a lot of options built in to the BMW computer those kinds of kits just can't touch.

Having one of those cheap kits is kind of like taking a sack lunch to a catered banquet. ;)

You can install a Parrot and other aftermarket kit with an adapter for about $150, but it is a far cry from the integrated BMW system. If you add a steering wheel adapter, then the total cost gets up to the $300 range. But it still loses a lot of functionality and performance.
