Remove Professional phone and install ULF

Is there anybody that have experiences with removing professional phone SA638 (euro edition) and intall ULF with voice control.

My proffessional phone is bluetooth, but have no voice control. My car is a X3 3.0iA made 5/04

I have the motorola TCU with combined Assist and bluetooth

I have read a post on the forum (http://www.x3world.com/bluetooth/36069-change-vr-german-english-need-ses-jumper-plug.html
posted by I Dutch X3 owner which had a very similar setup but he had the separat voice control unit, my car does not even have the connector for it on the harness (the one you must install the SES jumper on).

I am now going to install 12th generation ULF and replace the handset with the eject box.

Do I have to consider this TSB: SI B 84 08 04

Removal/disconnection of the TCU also requires the central code (ZCS)/Vehicle Order (VO) to be modified. Since the
TCU (SA639) is factory installed on vehicles equipped with the "Premium" package, SA639 must be removed from the
vehicle coding data or the car/key memory features cannot be set.
If the ULF system is installed, the vehicle must be coded to add the ULF System (SA644) and activate Voice Recognition

(SA620), which will be added to the vehicle's coding data ZCS/VO – see procedure below.

1.
I now that the ULF is going to work with the eject box ref. the Dutch post.
but will the voice control work without changing the VO (adding SA620) ?

2.
And will there be any problems with car/key memory, if I dont change VO (Remove SA638) ?

3.
Is there any way I can find out if my vehicle is pre-coded for this options, without taking it to the dealer by means of using programming tools too accsess the vehicle coding (VO). Is there any hidden menus or something like that which can show me this ?

Hi there
Are you referring to this (Greek X5 owner) http://www.xoutpost.com/437585-post7.html

I had this retrofit done, but I didn't had a SEPARATE voice control unit...
Installed a 3rd Gen ULF - (Voice included)
Maybe you can try the NAVCODER software (described well within these forums)..
1. No, the voice will not work without programming (Dealer or NAVCODER)
2. I think that there will not be any problems with keys...
3. NO, only OBD software or dealer or NAVCODER

Sorry about the mix up, I read this post, but I was refering to the Dutch owners post (did a edit in my post)

But I might visit the dealer if my voice control is not enabled. Could you please describe where to find the option in the programming tool, was it in the retrofit meny, or some place else?

Thanks for your reply:thumbup:

For what option are you looking?
Programming tool? Are you meaning NAVCODER?

Please, try to be more specific, in order to receive the (correct?) answers...

No I meant when you was visiting your dealer, you was watching the dealers progman computer or DISPlus, GT1 or SSS to enable the voice control. In which menu did you find the option to enable voice control, was it in the retrofit selection?

I have now replaced my proffesional phone with a 12th generation ULF
(84 10 9 145 007), and it was plug and play.

The voice control worked without any need for programming.

I have only read the 03/2000 user manual, and I have tried all of the vioice commands described in the manual.

But there is a few commands related to navigation, that give no response.
The commands are "help navigation" and "navigation" wich is supposed to start navigation to a new destination, "new route" to enter new destination.
All other commands work flawlessly, including other nav commands

Does anybody know if any commands is altered, or not applicable anymore?

I cant get this information annonced by the system since it do not respond to "help navigation". There is no responce at all from the commands mentioned above, not even "sorry"

Glad to hear everything was easy on installation.
Regarding NAVI voice commands, is your NAVI (MK4 I believe) factory installed?
What year/month is your car manufactured?

x3 3.0ia 04-14-2008 06:36 PM

my car is an X3 3.0iA made 5/04

Yes the navi is a factory installed MK4, which is upgraded to OS v28.0
