My 2005 has Bluetooth combo assist module but no BT functionality?

Can someone tell me what I'm missing? Build date is 10/2004. I bought this as a CPO car with 30k on it. Otherwise it's in excellent condition, I just expected the Bluetooth to work and it does not.

I have a great deal of experience with Bluetooth on my M Z4 Roadster and my past 3 series cars.

Thanks!

Thanks Quicksilver. I have looked over the docs on the links but they do not help. Note that I wrote a DIY for Bluetooth on the original 3 series installations (http://www.golilm.com/DIY/Bluetooth/) which has had tens of thousands of views.

My problem is I KNOW there is a combo BT / Assist module - I physically looked at it and wrote down the Passkey from the ULF, but holding down talk or trying to find the car with the phone in BT discovery mode does not work. It's obvious that nothing is happening with the BT side. I guess I'll need to get it to the dealer and have them look at the programming.

Thanks!

Maybe your ULF is bad or disconnected. Is there a fuse for it? I'm not sure.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the talk button doesn't put the X in discovery mode. You have to turn blue tooth from your phone first. Then turned the cars ignition to position #1 then the discovery process is automatic. The pairing process get completed when it asks for your password. That's the way it worked for me.

I have to tell you though the pairing process was not a snap. It took several tries for this process to complete. It turned out that i was trying to hard to complete a simple process. Aside from a mechanical issue it should be painless

In my case the contacts became an issue because The BMW bluetooth didn't recognize my address book. It only wanted favorites from my phone. There couldn't be any funny characters either or the load process would take longer. Wish you well with the process.
